Seminole High School Begins Year Strong

Seminole High School has completed the first full week of the 2023-24 school year. School administrators report the year has started out extremely well, both in the hallways and beyond.

Seminole High School Principal McKayla Plett highlighted outstanding cooperation from the community and says she is very pleased with parent and student response to SHS’s new clear backpack policy.

“When I see our students come in and just follow that rule from the jump with no issues, I am extremely thankful,” said Plett. “I know a lot of communities experienced significant pushback for implementing this rule. This is proof again how great the Seminole community is.”

Several extracurricular activities are already underway. Volleyball, softball, cross country, and football are all practicing, playing games, and preparing for outstanding seasons. For full event schedules and team updates, follow the Seminole High School Facebook page and check out the high school website at www.sps.k12.ok.us/o/shs

Outside of athletics, Seminole High School is pleased to offer a variety of clubs and organizations students can join this school year.

These include the African American Student Association, Academic Bowl Team, Business Professionals Association, E-Sports League, Family Career and Community Leaders of America, FFA, Marketing, Native American Club, Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Club, SCORE, Speech and Debate, Student Council, Superintendent's Advisory Council, Technology Student Association, and Yearbook.

If your high school student is interested in joining one of these clubs or community organizations, please have them reach out to the club sponsor or a school counselor.

SHS teachers, staff, and administrators look forward to an outstanding semester and hope to see you supporting our students at an event this fall. Go Chieftains!
